NEW BROWNFELS, TX (AP) — A young SUV passenger involved in a head-on collision on a Texas highway that killed seven others was in critical condition on Tuesday.
The accident between an SUV and a pickup truck that veered into the oncoming lane occurred Sunday evening on a two-lane road in suburban Comal County near San Antonio.
The Texas Department of Public Safety did not immediately release the names or ages of the victims, but said in a statement that five of those killed were in an SUV, including two children and the driver.
Another young passenger in the SUV was taken to a San Antonio hospital in critical condition, according to DPS.
The driver and passenger of the Ford F-150 pickup truck died at the scene.
According to authorities, a preliminary investigation showed that a pickup truck collided head-on with an SUV on the road leading from the farm to the market.
The traffic police said no one was involved in the accident. No other details were immediately released.
