A 13-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the Jan. 3 robbery and kidnapping of a pizza delivery driver in the Elliott area of Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh police did not identify the teenager. Police spokeswoman Amanda Mueller said the boy was not charged as an adult due to his age.

“A sworn statement has been filed, but until he is charged as an adult, the name will not be released,” Mueller said.

On Monday, police charged the teen with offenses including aggravated assault, kidnapping, robbery, conspiracy and car robbery. He was arrested earlier in the day in Elliott, according to a public register of police arrests.

“There is one arrest of a minor, but more arrests are expected,” another police spokesman, Kara Cruz, told the Tribune-Review.

Police from the 6th city zone responded to reports of a robbery and kidnapping around 10 p.m. Jan. 3 at the 900 block of Phoenix Street.

A pizza delivery driver told police that he had stopped his car at 9:30 p.m. to look for a delivery address when he was approached by three men dressed in black, each with a black pistol.

The driver said that money was demanded and stolen from him, as well as car keys, wallet, mobile phone and shoes.

According to the victim, the suspects kicked the driver in the knees from behind, causing him to fall to the ground, then began beating him with pistols and fists before stuffing him into the trunk of a car.

According to the victim, the car drove for an unknown distance before the suspects got out and left it in the trunk. The driver then entered the car through the back seat and called the police from the 1300 block of Hassler Street.

The driver suffered a swollen jaw and bruises but refused medical attention, police said.
