A car fatally hit a pedestrian Wednesday morning on I-35E in Dallas.

Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Wednesday morning in the Stemmons corridor, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Shortly before 9:30 a.m., Dallas County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to respond to a major accident on the southbound lanes of Interstate 35E above Market Center Boulevard, just north of the Oak Lawn Avenue exit, the sheriff’s office said.

Sheriff’s deputies found the pedestrian’s body, which appeared to have been hit by a car, the report said.

There were no vehicles at the scene when authorities arrived at the scene, but investigators believe the pedestrian, whose identity the sheriff’s office has not released, may have been hit by a truck, according to the report.

The two left lanes of the highway were closed due to the accident but have since reopened.
