A suspect is arrested after assaulting a man who was kidnapped during an attempted robbery in southeastern Bexar County.

SAN ANTONIO – A man told the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office that he was abducted and assaulted by two suspects during an attempted robbery in southeastern Bexar County.

One of the suspects, 39-year-old Gustavo Aguilar Castillo, has been charged with aggravated kidnapping.

The arrest warrant statement says the incident took place on Saturday in the 10500 block of Lake Brownig, near Interstate 37 and Highway 181.

The man told the BCSO that they were using drugs, and at one point Castillo and the woman demanded money from him.

He refused, and the suspects tied him up with rope and cord, the affidavit said.

Then they began to beat him with a baton and a barbell in the face and body, knocking out one of his teeth, the deputies said.

They took away his mobile phone and placed him in the back seat of the car. He was then taken to a location in Floresville where he was able to escape and call 911.

An arrest warrant for Castillo was issued on Wednesday. His bail is set at $70,000.

Judging by the case file, the woman was not arrested.
