Burglars stole millions of dollars worth of jewelry from a store in Mesquite over the weekend, according to a business manager.
Paul Hash, manager of American Jewelers, said employees became aware of the burglary when the store opened on Saturday morning. He said he believed the robbers entered the store by first breaking through the wall of the former Sears office. The jewelry store is located in the Town East Mall.
About $2 million worth of goods were stolen, he said.
“They just made a big hole in the wall and went through it,” Hash said. “They cut through concrete and four sheet stones.”
Hash said he did not know exactly when the alleged robbers broke into the walls because some store security equipment was also stolen during the robbery.
Mesquite police did not immediately respond to a request for information.
