Austin gas station attendant shot dead man during altercation, police say

Austin, Texas (KWTX)- Austin Police Department officers arrested 25-year-old Yasin Naz and sent him to the Travis County Jail on murder charges after a fatal shooting in the parking lot of a Shell gas station at 4509 E Martin Luther King Boulevard.

According to police, the shooting occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on January 21.

When officers arrived at the gas station, they found Marquis Demps, 42, with gunshot wounds, in a car in the parking lot of the gas station.

Demps died at the scene, police said.

“During the investigation, detectives determined that Demps was involved in an altercation with Shell employee Yasin Naz, during which Naz shot and killed Demps,” the police said.
