Auto Task Force arrests two in Brownsville on suspicion of stealing McAllen

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Two men arrested Wednesday in Brownsville were linked to a car that was stolen in McAllen and to cases outside the Rio Grande Valley, ValleyCentral police said.

Christian Garza, 24, of Deer Park, Texas, and Prince Julius Arnold, 19, of Humble, Texas, were arrested in Brownsville and face multiple charges in connection with a stolen McAllen truck and several Texas law enforcement cases.

The South Texas Task Force in Brownsville was contacted by its task force partner in McAllen Wednesday about a stolen GMC Sierra, police said.

“We have received GPS information that the vehicle is in the 900th block area of ​​Ruben M. Torres. [Boulevard]police said in regards to a stolen gray Chevrolet Tahoe.

Officers and agents found the truck as it pulled out of the parking lot.

“Officers quickly hid behind the vehicle and stopped traffic,” Brownsville police told ValleyCentral. “Tahoe” accelerated and began to run away from the officers.

The Tahoe then crashed and the two men fled the police on foot before being rounded up and arrested, police said.

“During the search, the police found several uncoded car keys,” the police said.

Officers searched Tahoe and found a code system similar to the one seized by the Brownsville Police Department in November. Police also found a 0.45mm Springfield Champion handgun and 13 ounces of marijuana, police said.

According to the Brownsville Police Department, Garza is wanted by various departments, including the Texas Police Department, the Weslaco Police Department, and Harris County and Brazoria law enforcement.

The police said the men were charged with the following charges:

  • Arrest Evasion in Vehicle: $25,000 bail
  • Illegal use of criminal tools: $25,000 bail
  • Illegal possession of weapons: $5,000 bail.
  • Arrest evasion on foot: $5,000 bail
  • Possession of marijuana: $1,000 bond

Christian Garza:

  • Vehicle Arrest Evasion: $50,000 bail
  • Illegal use of criminal tools: $50,000 bail
  • Illegal possession of weapons: $5,000 bail.
  • Arrest evasion on foot: $5,000 bail
  • Possession of marijuana: $1,000 bond
  • Controlled Substance Possession (DPS Weslaco): no deposit
  • Unauthorized Vehicle Use (Harris County): No Bond
  • Theft felony (Harris County): No bail
  • Vehicle Seizure Evasion (Harris County): No bail
  • Illegal possession of a weapon (Harris County): $5,000 bail.
  • Illegal use of criminal tools (Harris County): $5,000 bail.
  • Criminal Trespass V: $1,000 bail
  • Assault F/V (Harris County): $10,000 bond
  • Unauthorized Vehicle Use (Brazoria County): $5,000 bond.

The men were put on trial in Brownsville.
