Baby and teen mom among six killed in California home shooting

Sheriff officials say six people, including a 17-year-old mother and her 6-month-old baby, were killed in a shooting early Monday at a central California home.

VISALIA, California. Six people, including a 17-year-old mother and her 6-month-old baby, were killed early Monday in a shooting at a central California home. officials said.

Deputies responded around 3:30 a.m. to reports of multiple shots fired at an apartment building in unincorporated Goshen, east of Visalia, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said.

“It was actually reported that there was an active shooter in the area due to the number of shots that were fired,” Sheriff Mike Boudreau told reporters.

The deputies found two victims dead in the street and a third man shot dead at the door of the residence, Boudreau said.

Three more victims were found in the house, he said, including a man who was still alive but later died in hospital.

Investigators are looking for at least two suspects, the sheriff said. They believe that the gang is involved in the murders. The sheriff’s office conducted a drug-related search at the home last week, Boudreau said.

“We also believe that this was not a random act of violence. We believe this was the target family,” he said.

Goshen is a semi-rural community of about 3,000 35 miles (56 km) southeast of Fresno in the agricultural San Joaquin Valley.
