More:I’ve seen Phoenix so many times. ACL Fest was one of the best.
Beck was the keynote speaker at the South by Southwest conference last year. He shared stories from the early days of his career, such as when country music legend Johnny Cash performed for him at SXSW 1994, the bad advice he received along the way, and thoughts about the future of music. He also played a twisty acoustic set at ACL Live while he was in town.
Members of Phoenix also frequently fly to Austin concerts. The band played at ACL Fest last year. Guitarist Christian Mazzalai and guitarist/keyboardist Laurent Brankowitz popped into Austin360’s backstage tent on the afternoon before the fantastic Weekend w set. They expressed their appreciation for the strangeness of our city.
“We’ve been touring America for a long time now and see it getting more and more corporate and similar,” Brankovitz told the Statesman. , that’s a great message to the world.”
