Flight cancellations and delays are expected at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport through Wednesday morning due to a system failure by the Federal Aviation Administration that has resulted in the suspension of all domestic flights.
The FAA canceled the ground stop at approximately 7:50 a.m., but Austin Airport tweeted that passengers can expect cancellation delays throughout the day as airlines work to restore scheduled flights.
“Please stay in touch with your airline and check the status of your flight before you travel to Australia,” the tweet read.

Austin Airport reported 137 delays and 28 cancellations as of 8:00 a.m., according to Flightaware.com, which tracks flight delays and cancellations in real time.
At 6:19 am FAA tweeted that it has ordered airlines to suspend all domestic flights until 8 a.m. CST so the agency can verify the validity of the flight and security information. He picked up his ground stop at 7:50 am.
The agency initially said it was working to restore the nighttime shutdown of its air mission notification system, which relays “information that is important to personnel associated with flight operations.” By 7:50 a.m., the agency reported that normal air traffic was gradually resuming in the US.
“We are continuing to investigate the cause of the original problem,” the FAA said in a statement.
Nationwide, more than 4,013 flights to and from the US were delayed and 729 flights canceled as of 8am, according to Flightaware.com.
