AUSTIN (KXAN) — The City of Austin will open its cold shelters on Wednesday night ahead of temperatures in the 30s.
Shelter check-in takes place between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm at the One Texas Center (OTC) at 505 Barton Springs Road.
Shelter activation thresholds in cold weather:
- 32 degrees or colder at night
- 35 degrees, with rain/wet
- 35 degrees, with wind chill 32 or below

- APH sends an email to the Community Communications Portal and to other outreach and information organizations for the vulnerable.
- HSEM sends text to phone numbers registered in the notification system.
