Dallas teacher arrested Monday on charges of possession of child pornography, school says

A parochial Episcopal school teacher has been suspended after being arrested Monday on charges of possession of child pornography, the school confirmed.

Brandon Froning, 31, is charged with two charges of possession of child pornography. He was sent to the Dallas County Jail at around 7:15 am. It was unclear if he had a lawyer.

According to a letter sent to parents, Froning was suspended from school pending further investigation and banned from campus.. She has been teaching at the school since 2021.

“The news of the arrest is upsetting and saddening for everyone in our community,” ward spokeswoman Heather Mills wrote in an email. Dallas Morning News. “There is no higher priority than the safety of our students.”

Far North Dallas Parish Episcopal School is a private school with about 1,100 students from Pre-K to 12th grade spread across two campuses, according to its website. Froning worked on the Hillcrest Road campus.

By Monday afternoon, Froning was not in the school’s online directory.

In a school letter to parents, interim headmaster Michelle Lyon announced Froning’s arrest and stated that no current or former ward students appeared to be involved in the misconduct.

“The disturbing nature of this news cannot be avoided,” she wrote.

According to the letter, Parish conducted multiple background checks on Froning, as well as his background on criminals and sex offenders, before he was hired, and found no criminal record.

Froning previously taught kindergarten at Hutsell Elementary School in Katy, Texas, according to a 2020 post on the school’s Facebook page. The report says he also taught in Indiana for six years, where he was “Teacher of the Year.”
