A Plano developer purchased 278 acres of land in two residential areas to build 1,200 new homes.
According to Dallas morning news Landon Homes made several land purchases last month that will lead to further development in North Texas.
The Plano-based construction company, led by John Landon, made its first purchase on December 5th. The developer bought 363 104-acre parcels of land in the Fields Brookside North neighborhood southwest of Fields Parkway and Legacy Drive.
On December 22, 2022, Landon Homes purchased 870 lots on 174 acres in the East Village on the other side of Dallas’ northern toll road. Consisting of smaller lots, this site is expected to include townhouses.
The purchase of the land will eventually lead to the construction of more than 1,200 homes in Frisco Fields, one of the largest and most anticipated new communities in the area.
The 2,500-acre Fields development is a project of Dallas’ Hunt Realty Investments and Karahan Cos., who were behind Legacy West Plano.
Construction projects in the area will begin in 2023 for the first time with the expansion of Legacy Drive and the new Fields Parkway.
From there, construction will begin in mid-2024 on Brookside North, which consists of 500 lots, and Preserve, a 267-acre multi-million home community.
Construction on the East Village is expected to begin in January 2025.
Frisco Fields is in close proximity to the new PGA headquarters, which opened in August, as well as the Omni PGA Frisco Resort, scheduled to open in May.
The Golf Association plans to host 26 tournaments, including the 2027 and 2034 PGA championships, over the next 15 years at the hotel’s two golf courses.
Over the past few years, Landon Homes has built communities in North Texas cities including Argyle, Flower Mound, and Rowlett.
