A popular East Texas caramel apple company will soon find a permanent home in Tyler. Apple Gal, which started as a pop-up business, will open in early 2023.
Owner Morgan Francis said she started the business after the birth of her son in the fall of 2019 as a hobby, not knowing it would take off like that.
“The year before, I made caramel apples for the teachers I taught with at Bryan-College Station,” she said. “After my son was born and I quit my job to stay with him, I wanted to have a hobby that was just for me; little did I know at the time what would happen.”
Apple Gal offers over 20 flavors, including Salted Caramel, Cinnamon Roll, and Blue Bell Moo-llennium Crunch Ice Cream, just to name a few. Each apple is homemade and hand dipped.
Francis said apples, which are produced all year round, offer something special for just about any occasion.
“We sell them all year round, even in summer and spring,” she said. “It’s a unique treat that they can use for any occasion in their lives — birthdays, weddings, showers, and so on. This makes it a treat that people are not used to, or easily available in stores.”
Frances said that she has perfected the process of making apples.
“Usually I arrive at work just when the kids, 3 and 1, go to bed at night, which is around 8 pm,” she said. “I turn on the podcast and will work from two to four hours depending on the size of the order. I dip and decorate and then wrap. Now I have science.”
Frances said it’s important for her to prioritize family, and even her 80-year-old grandparents help her make her magic.
According to Frances, the permanent location made her very excited.
“We are so excited about this new place. I will be designing all of this myself and I really enjoy having autonomy in the design process,” she said. “We expect to open in early 2023.”
Apple Gal is now accepting pre-orders for Christmas, offering fun designs like Rudolph and snowmen, elegant all-white options, and more.
The new location will be in the Mosaic District near Earl Campbell Parkway.
