Ex-Texas soldier found guilty of assaulting two women

HOUSTON (AP) – A federal prosecutor’s office said a former Texas trooper was found guilty of assaulting two women while on duty in the Houston area in 2020.

Prosecutors said Friday that a jury found that Lee Ray Boykin, Jr., 33, robbed two separate victims of their right to physical integrity while acting as a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper, committing aggravated sexual assault in one case and kidnapping in another. .

U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani said in a press release that Boykin “used his power to stalk and prey on his victims for his own sexual gratification.”

Boykin faces a life sentence in federal prison when he is sentenced in April. Prosecutors said he was in custody and would remain in custody pending sentencing.

Boykin was also found guilty on two counts of destroying, altering, or falsifying documents.

Prosecutors said one of the victims testified at trial that Boykin drove her to a secluded parking lot after ordering her to get out of a friend’s car after a traffic stop. She said that Boykin then falsely accused her of being a prostitute, threatened to put her in jail and forced her to perform oral sex on him before telling her to run with her hand on her gun.
