Father and 14-year-old son killed in shooting in Llano County

LLANO COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A father and his son died after a shooting early Saturday morning in Tow, Texas, according to the Llano County Sheriff’s Office.

The office issued a press release at 10:30 p.m. Saturday. In it, the agency said Preston Wessling, 38, and Evan Wessling, 14, were found with gunshot wounds around 4:49 a.m. on the driveway to the family’s home on Airport Road.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The case is being investigated as a murder.

The report said LCSO representatives in the same area answered an emergency call at around 1 a.m. Saturday, citing gunshots. However, it is not clear if the incidents are related, the LCSO says.

KXAN received several reports of the incident earlier in the day, but LCSO controllers said we would need to wait until Tuesday for any information or even confirmation of whether a murder had occurred.

The Texas Rangers are also involved in the investigation.

The LCSO asks anyone with information to contact the agency at 325-247-5767 or call the Hill Country Crime Unit at 1-866-756-TIPS (8477).
