Fort Worth detective arrested for drunk driving, police say

Update: Updated at 11:41 am to include additional information from Benbrook Police.

The Fort Worth detective was arrested early Thursday in Benbrook.

Tanner Martin, who was off duty at the time of the incident, has been charged with drunk driving, according to Fort Worth police.

At about 2 a.m., officers stopped a car on the 100th block of Sproles Drive after seeing it drive “chaotically” down Benbrook Boulevard, according to Benbrook police. Officers forced the driver, later identified as Martin, to undergo field sobriety tests before he was arrested, police said.

Fort Worth Police placed Martin for a limited time pending the completion of a criminal and administrative investigation. He worked in the department for seven years and was assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit.

Martin’s arrest is the latest in a string of officer misconduct in the Department of Fort Worth, including three officers who were fired late last month.
