On Tuesday, the Sports Field Management Association (SFMA) named Greater Nevada Field the 2022 Professional Baseball Field of the Year.
Head Gardener Leah Whitrow accepted the award at the 2023 SFMA Conference & Exhibition in Salt Lake City over the weekend.
“It is a huge honor for Reno Aces that Greater Nevada Field has been named the best professional baseball field in the country by the Sports Field Management Association,” said Chris Phillips, CEO and COO of Reno Aces. “This is a testament to both Herb Simon and our group of owners who continue to reinvest in the stadium with Leah Whitrow and her team working hard to ensure we have one of the best facilities in the country.”
Aces and Greater Nevada Field joins Dell Diamond in Round Rock and Isotopes Park in Albuquerque as the only Pacific Coast League baseball stadiums to have received this award since the award was established in 1988.
“It’s humiliating. Being recognized by my peers means the world to me and this honor has been a career goal since I started in the industry,” said Leah Whitrow, Head Gardener at Reno Aces. “This award confirms that Greater Nevada Field is the premier professional baseball field. My team is working very hard to provide the best playing field for the growth of the players and the enjoyment of the fans.”
