Has anyone won the $502 million Powerball jackpot?

The lottery has not had a top prize winner since November 19, the same month that Powerball won a record-breaking $2.04 billion jackpot.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Powerball once made headlines when over half a billion dollars were up for grabs on Monday night — and the lack of a winner means the jackpot is set to keep growing.

After Saturday’s draw, the prize rose to $502 million with a cash option of $271.1 million.

Since there will be no winner on Monday, the estimated top prize will increase to $526 million for Wednesday’s draw.

The lottery has not had a top prize winner since November 19, the same month that Powerball won a record-breaking $2.04 billion jackpot. While $502 million is an eye-catching figure, the jackpot did not make it into the top 10 lottery prizes in the US.

Earlier this month, another popular lottery had a massive billion dollar payout. A Mega Millions ticket sold in Maine generated $1.35 billion, making it the fourth largest lottery prize.

January 23rd Powerball Winning Numbers

Monday’s winning numbers were 12-31-47-58-60, Powerball 23.

No one matched all six numbers, but one ticket in Virginia matched five without a Powerball and won $1 million.

What are the chances of winning the Powerball?

The chances of winning the Powerball jackpot are slim – one in 292.2 million.

Huge lottery jackpots have become more common over the past few years as lottery officials have changed rules and ticket prices to increase top prizes.

In 2021, the lottery saw its biggest change as Powerball officials added a Monday draw to their weekly Wednesday and Saturday draw lineup. At the time of the announcement, Powerball announced that the addition of the Monday draw would result in “larger and faster growing jackpots”.

Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
