Principals announced to lead Corpus Christi’s newest ISD elementary schools next year.
Cullen Place Elementary School will accept students from Montclair, Meadowbrook and Woodlawn Elementary Schools. The current Principal of Montclair Elementary School, Steve Barrera, will lead the new unified campus.
Barrera has been director of the CCISD since 2006 and an educator since 1995. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in Kingsville and a master’s degree from Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi.
“The Committee has commended Mr. Barrera’s consistent leadership and community outreach,” Superintendent Roland Hernandez said in a press release. “We look forward to his leadership as Cullen Place honors the area’s history while creating new traditions.”
The current headmaster of Woodlawn Primary Christa Rashe will lead Creekside Primary School, a new school in the Southside on Yorktown Boulevard.
Rashe has served in the classroom as a campus administrator and at the Center for Educational Services, Region 2. She holds a bachelor’s degree in special education from the University of Maine and a master’s degree in educational administration from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.
“Mrs. Rache is a dynamic administrator who has led Woodlawn to an A-ranking from the Texas Education Agency,” Hernandez said. “We know she will display the same passion for excellence in creating Creekside.”
Both Cullen Place and Creekside Elementary Schools are being built with 2020 bonds, which also include funds to build a new Gibson Elementary School near the current campus. Gibson Elementary School will continue to be led by Principal Julissa Segovia.
