BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Cameron County Deputy Sheriff has been sent to the Gateway International Bridge in connection with a man who has not yet issued a warrant.
According to Sheriff Eric Garza, on Tuesday, the deputy contacted the US customs officers who detained Michael Wayne Haley.
Haley had an outstanding sex offense warrant for noncompliance/registration outside of Harris County.
After confirming the man’s identity and status with county dispatch, the deputy took Haley into custody and sent him to the Carrisales-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito.
On Wednesday, he was awaiting extradition, authorities said.
