‘I put my soul into it’: Waco business owner faces insurance nightmare after driver destroys her beauty salon

Waco, TexasKWTX)- A Waco business owner is back on track after a speeding car crashed into her spa on Christmas Eve morning.

The clapboarded walls are what you see when you drive past the R&M Beauty Style Spa at the Texas Central Market.

Spa owner Maria Adams said she still can’t believe the accident happened to her. “It really breaks my heart for real because I put my whole soul into this,” Adams said.

Part of her heart is gone. “It’s like a tornado when they’re all spinning,” she said.

Authorities said the driver was unable to control the vehicle’s speed and crashed into the wall of Create A Cig, then through R&A Beauty Style and into the wall of Zales Outlet.

Adams, however, said she bore the brunt of the damage. “I look at the camera and I’m like, ‘Wow, everything is completely destroyed,’” Adams recalled.

Dust, debris and glass are everywhere, throwing back the owner’s seven years of hard work.

“It’s like my baby, you know? You build it and grow and grow and grow – now it is closed. It’s very hard for me,” Adams said, adding that her business was closed after the accident.

Luckily, no one was hurt, but Adams said it could have been within a hair’s breadth of death.

“If she came in during the day, she could have killed us, 100 percent,” Adams said.

Now, she says, she’s in a fearful nightmare.

“The store does not have loss insurance. It will be a lot to come back,” Adams said.

She wants people to be careful while driving because you can cause more damage than just a building.

“She not only damaged the spa, she damaged, like me, the inside,” Adams said.

Waco police say they did not issue any charges and the driver was not charged.
