#ICYMI: Spectacular freeway rescue caught on video, shooting victim crashes into train, thief only steals cheap watches

HOUSTON (KIAH) – Here’s what you missed on the eyewitness news at 9 o’clock here on CW39 Houston.

Spectacular freeway exit rescue operation caught on video

There is an exclusive video of the driver being rescued after the chase ended in a crash.

It happened at the exit northbound from the Katy Highway to the 610 roundabout.

Police were chasing a man in a white truck that was reportedly stolen when he went the wrong way on a ramp and crashed head-on into the truck.

The suspect has not been identified, but police believe he was under PCP at the time.

The video shows how the victim crashed into the train

Surveillance video shows the victim of the shooting crashing his car into a train on Mikawa on the southeast side.

It is still unclear who shot the man at the wheel. He survived his injuries.

Jewelery thief gets away with cheap watches, owner says

Police are looking for a robber who robbed a Houston jewelry store on Westheimer Street near Gessner on Wednesday evening.

The owner said he only got away with cheap silver and fancy watches that don’t cost a lot of money.

Dallas woman’s body found near home of man she dated

Authorities say the body of a woman who went missing after she threatened to tell the wife of a man she was dating that he was having an affair has been found buried in a field near his Dallas home.

The remains were discovered on Wednesday evening in Grande Prairie. The Collin County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that the remains belong to 33-year-old Kayla Kelly. Last week it became known that she was missing.

Ocastor Ferguson, 32, was arrested on Saturday on charges of kidnapping. She reportedly went missing on 11 January.

Ferguson remained in jail Thursday. The reports do not list a lawyer for him.

The first Native American woman in space went into outer space

The first Native American woman in space went on her first spacewalk. On Friday, NASA astronaut Nicole Mann was joined by Japan’s Koichi Wakata, another first spacewalk.

Their job was to install support legs and brackets for the new solar panels being launched this summer. Last year, they flew into orbit with SpaceX.

Mann is a member of the Wailaki Round Valley Indians in Northern California. She is also a Marine Colonel and test pilot.

Wakata is Japan’s spaceflight leader with five missions.
