Kalida beat Leipzig in PCL

 

KALIDA — Kalida pulled steadily away from Leipsik on Saturday night to win the Putnam County League 62-39.

After the first quarter, the Wildcats led 17–10 and went 33–21 at halftime. Kalida opened the game in the third quarter with an 18-6 hitting streak.

Evan Stechschult led the three Kalida players in double figures with 21 points. Jaden Smith scored 14 points and Ethan Warneke scored 13 points.

Paul Maag led the Vikings with 13 points and Jace Brecht finished with nine points.

The Pirates beat North Central 20–10 in the first quarter and went 30–20 up at halftime. Continental extended their lead with a 15-11 lead in the third quarter.

Mason Rayle led the three Pirate players in double figures with 24 points. Jonathan Etter and Conner Knipp-Williams scored 11 points each.

NEW KNOXVILLE — Fort Jennings finished well Saturday night to keep New Knoxville 56-50 out of the league.

In a tumultuous fourth quarter, the Musketeers were victorious over the Rangers 25–23. ft. Jennings led 32-27 going into the final quarter after both teams scored 10 points in the third quarter.

Jarron Swick had a big night for the Musketeers with 28 points, seven rebounds, two assists and six steals. Chase Neidert scored 11 points with four interceptions. Brandt Menke had seven assists while Owen Kalvelaj had four with three interceptions and Jareth Maag had three interceptions.

Jay Waterman led the Rangers with 20 points and Troy Dwenger had 12 points on seven rebounds. Preston Rathshilling finished with 10 points.

The Wildcats struggled to score in the first half, trailing 22–9 at halftime. Wayne Trace started the game with a 11-4 lead in the first quarter.

Miller City beat the Raiders 29–24 in the second half after a third-quarter scoring lead 11–8.

Brooks Lauhoof led the Raiders with 23 points, while T. Davis scored 12 points on seven rebounds.

Thomas Weiss led the Wildcats (7–7) with 17 points, hitting five 3-pointers in the game. Andon Rue grabbed eight rebounds.

COLUMBUS GROVE — The Liberty Benton used an important second half on Saturday night to secure a 66-45 non-league victory over Columbus Grove.

The Eagles led 28–24 at halftime and edged out the Bulldogs 40–21 in the second half. Liberty-Benton beat Grove 17–9 in the third quarter before ending the game on a 23–12 hitting streak in the fourth quarter.

Liberty-Benton led 15-10 after the first quarter before the Bulldogs cut that lead by one point in the second quarter.

Cason Doolittle led the Eagles by 16 points and Lincoln Garlock added 15 points. S. Elhert finished the game with 12 points.

Kyle Hopkins outscored the Bulldogs (5–8) by 18 points, while Tadd Koch finished with eight points.
