Nacogdoches Artist Creates Giant Metalwork for the Children Inside Us All

Every week we share newsletters from Texas State Reporter a long-running TV show that takes you on a journey through the back roads of Texas.

Jeffy Brewer grew up spending time in his family’s junkyard, where there was a lot of rusty metal and battered old cars. As a child, his job was to help weigh trucks arriving on massive scales and stamp their weight receipts. He began painting on these weight tickets (to the delight of the customers) and it turned into a lifelong passion for art. After earning degrees in sculpture and drawing, Brewer began working with the material he had grown up with: metal. And now his colorful, carefree drawings are like scribbles that have slipped off the page. Find out more in the latest newsletter from Texas country reporter.
