Officials say a small oil spill is responsible for the foul odor in Texas City.

The Texas City fire, along with the Office of Emergency Management, is in an area where air quality levels are being monitored.

TEXAS CITY, Texas. Texas City officials are warning residents about bad smell in the city limits.

According to the Texas City Office of Emergency Management, little oil output by Marathon Oil causing a smell which officials described as “bad smell at the moment.”

The Texas City fire, along with the Office of Emergency Management, is in an area where air quality levels are being monitored. As of 7 a.m. Wednesday, officials said there were no readings outside of normal levels.

Officials said they would continue to monitor the situation. We will update this story with more information if or when we receive it.
