Police Department looking for suspect in north Austin crash

Austin (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department is looking for a suspect wanted in connection with a deadly accident on New Year’s Eve, according to an APD press release.

At approximately 11:45 p.m. Dec. 31, officers responded to a one-vehicle accident near the 8200 block of Research Boulevard (Southbound Highway 183), the report said.

According to a preliminary investigation, Luis Angel Castilleja was driving at high speed with two other women in a car when he crashed head-on into a concrete barrier. One woman was thrown out of the car, the other was seriously injured.

Police said Castilleja left the area and did not try to help any of the women.

The report states that Castilleja is in the Austin, Kyle, or San Marcos area.

Castilleja was charged with two counts of an accident causing serious bodily harm and two counts of aggravated assault, the report said.
