BELTON, Texas. The Belton Police Department in a press release on Tuesday named the man found in the Lampasas River last week.

The press release said the man was identified as 30-year-old Eric Martinets of Taylor.

At about 11 a.m. on January 20, Belton police received a call about a man lying face down in the Lampasas River, near the 35 Interstate Bridge.

Police were able to confirm that Martinets matched Taylor’s description of the missing person. However, next of kin should have been notified in advance, the report said.

Martinz’s body had a head injury consistent with a fall from a height and his body was sent to the Southwestern Forensic Institute for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death, police said.
