The man died late Wednesday night after police found he had been shot multiple times in Denton’s apartment.
Officers arrived at an apartment complex on the 1000 block of Eagle Drive around 10:15 p.m., according to police, and found the apartment with the door ajar. They called out to see if anyone was inside and heard someone calling for help.
The squad included a man later identified as 43-year-old Cory Johnson, who had multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
Johnson was initially conscious and talking to officers, but did not speak again when an ambulance arrived to take him to the hospital, where he died. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Johnson’s death a homicide.
As of Thursday afternoon, no arrests had been made and the investigation is ongoing.
