Police said the girl was taken into custody after a shooting in East Oak Cliff on Sunday left the boy dead in hospital.
Police officers were dispatched around 2:00 p.m. in response to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 3300 block of South Oaks Boulevard, according to police.
Investigators believe the two girls got into a fight in the parking lot of the residential complex when one of the minors pulled out a gun and fired at the other. According to the police, a “underage bystander” was wounded by the shelling and was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
The girl who fired the gun fled the scene, but, according to police, was detained in a nearby residential complex.
The police did not provide any information regarding the identities of the people involved in the incident or what led to the fight between the girls. The incident is still under investigation, police said.
