A man is in custody after his 9-year-old son was fatally shot at McKinney on Friday afternoon.
Police have refused to identify the man, who they say will be charged with capital murder.
After a neighbor called 911 around 4 p.m., officers arrived at a house on the 700 block of Anson Court, near Independence and Virginia Boulevards. Police said the caller said the woman found her son unconscious and bleeding in the house.
When the police arrived, police said they broke into the house and found the woman’s husband stabbing himself.
The boy, who received multiple stab wounds, was in the garage, where he was declared dead. Authorities have not released his name.
According to police, the father was detained and is in the hospital.
According to the police, there was no one else in the house, there is no threat to the population.
The police said that because there is an active investigation, the information they can reveal is limited.
“Tonight our thoughts and prayers are with this family,” the police said in a written statement. “As our investigation unfolds over the coming days and weeks, we will be able to share more about what happened today.”
