HOUSTON (KIAH) — Authorities have managed to put out a fire at a Sunnyside home following a domestic violence incident.
It happened just before 1:00 a.m. Tuesday at the 4000 block of Knoxville Street, just off Scott Street.
When Houston police officers arrived after a report of aggravated assault, they noticed heavy smoke followed by people running out of the house.
The victim was found inside the home by Houston firefighters and taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
Police believe that prior to the burning of the house, the victim may have been attacked by a family member with a hammer.
The suspect was arrested at the scene.
