Prisoner Commits Suicide at Bexar County Jail, BCSO Confirms

SAN ANTONIO – According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, an inmate committed suicide in his cell at the Bexar County Jail Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened shortly before 12:30.

According to the deputies, the 31-year-old prisoner, whose name was not released, was found hanged in his cell during the observation.

The BCSO said life-saving measures were taken and an emergency code was called, however the prisoner died at the scene.

The identity of the prisoner will be made public after his family is notified of his death, MPs said.

According to the BCSO, the supervisory reviews conducted by MPs were in line with TCJS standards.

“Deputy is ahead of schedule and doing more surveillance checks,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

The prisoner was in prison on charges of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and two episodes of indecent behavior towards a child.
