Repairs are underway to fix a sinkhole in a mall parking lot on the far West Side.

SAN ANTONIO – The buyers were met by a vehicle in a dip in a mall on the far West Side.

Police responded to the scene near Loop 1604 and Highway 151 on Tuesday afternoon.

A water main failure in the middle of one of the main entrances to the Target store resulted in a large amount of water on the property.

Witnesses told KSAT that the breach and hole had been a problem since Monday.

A plumber working on a plumbing repair measured it and said the sinkhole was about 5 feet high.

It will take some time to resolve the issue. The plumber says he’s waiting for equipment and a green light to shut off water at some stores.

Police and workers used warning tape and shopping carts to block the road. One driver still managed to fall into the pit. No harm done.

If you are heading to Target or Ross near Culebra and Loop 1604, be careful in the parking lot.
