Rihanna teases Super Bowl halftime break with new music

It’s been almost seven years since Rihanna released an album and fans have been craving new music ever since.

WASHINGTON. Is Rihanna finally back?

Apple Music, official partner of the 2023 Super Bowl show, hinted at Rihanna’s musical comeback on Friday with its latest teaser.

The 30-second clip begins with sound bites about Rihanna’s extended hiatus from music as the Grammy-winning Barbados strutted down the illuminated runway. As the voices overlap excessively, the screen goes black and Rihanna takes center stage.

The singer puts her finger to her lips, as if silencing the audience. At this point, her 2016 single “Needed Me” starts playing in the background and the video ends with the logo of the Super Bowl halftime show.

It’s been almost seven years since Rihanna released an album and fans have been craving new music ever since.

Rihanna recently lent her voice to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the single “Lift Me Up” for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.

After the NFL announced in late September that Rihanna would be headlining the February show, hopeful rumors have swirled about the long-awaited new album she’s been teasing in recent years. Her latest album ANTI was released in 2016.

With sales of over 250 million records worldwide, Rihanna is considered one of the best-selling female artists of all time.

Rihanna turned down a similar opportunity for the 2019 Super Bowl, which was eventually headlined by Maroon 5. At the time, many artists voiced their support for Colin Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback whose protests against the 2016 national anthem caused controversy in football.

The singer is set to take the stage for the halftime show during Super Bowl LVII on February 12 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
