Rosalia Wade

Rosalia Smith Wade passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.

Rosalia was born December 8, 1932 to Jack and Clida Smith in Perrin, Texas.

She graduated from Birdville High School on May 31, 1951. Rosalie was the captain of her high school basketball team and played on the softball team. After school, she went to comptometer school, from which she graduated. She worked in downtown Fort Worth as a comptometer operator.

She married Jimmy Grant Wade on November 30, 1962. Together they built their home in Willow Park, where they lived together all their lives and raised two beautiful daughters. She was a faithful Christian and a member of the South Main Church of Christ in Weatherford.

She was a rural courier for the United States Postal Service and retired after many years of service. After her retirement, she continued to stay busy helping her daughter Jackie with her business and staying active in her grandchildren’s lives.

Rosalia was a great friend and neighbor to many. She was real, a servant and always put the needs of others before her own. She was loved by all who knew her. The most important thing for her was her family. Rosalia was the best mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt one could ask for. She enjoyed attending as many of her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s events as she could physically attend.

Rosalia was preceded by the death of her husband Jimmy Wade. She was also preceded in death by her parents Jack and Clida Smith and brother and sister-in-law Don and LaJuan Smith. She is survived by daughters Rosemary Byars and husband Matt Aledo; and Jackie Haislip of Weatherford; her grandchildren Terrajane Kendrick and her husband Chris of Weatherford, Ty Byars and his wife Ellie of Abilene, Payton Byars of Stevenville and Claire Byars of Aledo, and three great-grandchildren Talyn, Colton and Dawson.

Rosalia’s visitation will take place from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 26 at the Galbraith Picard Chapel at Hilltop, 4941 Interstate 20 Frontage Road in Willow Park. A memorial service will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the same location, followed by a memorial service at Perrine Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pythian House in Weatherford.
