Sabin County killer on the run for almost a year officially sentenced to 99 years; family members of the victim testify

On Tuesday, an East Texas family received the justice they’ve been waiting for for over a year.

Livy Lewis, 19, was killed by her boyfriend Matthew Edgar in Sabin County in October 2020.

Edgar was found guilty of her murder in January 2022, but escaped on the third day of his trial and went missing until he was found on the back porch of a local house on December 29.

In his absence, Edgar was sentenced to 99 years in prison. On Thursday, the judge officially sentenced him without the possibility of receiving a suspended sentence.
