The chip love affair went awry after a man was arrested on charges of stealing a Ruffles truck from a Walmart store in Converse, according to a Facebook post from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
Deputies from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and the Converse Police Department were sent to a Walmart in the 800 block of FM 78 in Converse after a carjacking call came in on Tuesday, Jan. 10. The report said MPs were given details of how it was the Ruffles Lays Chips box truck.
The man, 27-year-old Jeff Jetin, was allegedly driving a truck near a Walmart and turned onto a nearby street, BCSO reports. He then jumped out of a moving stolen truck that crashed into a pickup truck and into the garage door of an apartment building, BCSO reports.
The BCSO reported that Gethin then began escaping on foot and jumping over fences in a residential area. After a lengthy foot chase and search, the BCSO deputies were able to apprehend Gethin.
“Getin was arrested without incident because our MPs are everything and a bag of chips,” the BCSO said in a statement. “…Furthermore, investigators are currently trying to determine if it was MO snacks or just a love for ruffle chips.”
Jetin was arrested for stealing a car between $30,000 and <$150,000 and evading arrest/detention with a car. He is currently being held in the Bexar County Jail on $30,000 bail.
