San Antonio man jailed for posting child pornography on messaging app

SAN ANTONIO – A man from San Antonio was sentenced to more than 13 years in prison for distributing child pornography.

According to a press release from the US Attorney’s Office, 42-year-old Dustin Kotara has been federally charged with obtaining child sexual abuse records.

He was sentenced to 160 months in prison, 25 years of parole and $45,000 in damages to nine child victims.

According to federal investigators, Kotara participated in a messaging group focused on child abuse and exploitation. Through this application, he sent materials about child sexual abuse to an undercover agent.

“This is a terrible crime, and our agents and law enforcement partners are working to prevent such crimes every single day,” said Special Agent Oliver E. Rich, Jr. of the FBI’s San Antonio division. “The FBI will remain vigilant in our efforts to save children from those who are trying to exploit or hunt them.”
