SAN ANTONIO Three people, including two children, were killed in a rollover accident on the city’s northeast side late Sunday night, according to San Antonio police.
The crash happened around 10:20 pm on Thousand Oaks Drive, near Alamo Blanco Street and Perrine Beitel Road.
The red sedan was crossing Thousand Oaks when a silver SUV crashed into it, police said. It was then, according to police, that the sedan crashed into a power pole, and the wire fell on the hood of a pickup truck traveling eastbound in the lane.
Police said firefighters tried to rescue three people (a 20-year-old woman, a 17-year-old and a 10-year-old girl) from the sedan, but they all died on the spot. The SUV driver was taken by ambulance to the district hospital as a precautionary measure. The passenger in the SUV was not injured, police said.
Relatives of the victims say they were on their way to a HEB hospital about three blocks away to get medicine for their mother’s upset stomach. The relative says that when they did not return, my mother went to look for them and saw the wreckage.
SAPD did not say exactly why the failure occurred. The names of the dead have not been released.
The San Antonio Police Department, San Antonio Fire Department and Ambulance responded to the call.
It is currently unclear if any charges will be filed. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
