Financial victories come in many forms. Sometimes getting a new job and increasing your income can change your life. In other cases, getting past the tedious job of estate planning is more than enough to get you a better night’s sleep. No matter what you’ve done with your money in 2022, it’s important to celebrate the progress you’ve made towards your financial goals.
At the same time, money problems can become a relentless werewolf. Maybe your car breaks down and you have to buy a new one just as interest rates go up. Or you had to move because of a new job and found an apartment in an expensive area, which hit your budget hard. It’s a matter of when, not if, costs suddenly pop up. That’s why it’s so important to keep everything you can in a reserve fund, because even a few hundred dollars can mean the difference between covering expenses and debiting them from a credit card.
Despite the financial ups and downs of the year, exciting changes are always around the corner. Maybe your family will be replenished in the new year or you have a big international vacation planned with your closest friends. Use the time you have to save on these costs and consider using credit cards to earn points as you spend. So you can enjoy the moments while making smart money moves.
