Snow and rain are expected in North Texas on Tuesday. Here’s what you can expect

Pack Up North Texas: Parts of the region are expected to experience sleet and rain throughout the day on Tuesday.

Meteorologist Juan Hernandez of the National Weather Service in Fort Worth says heavy rain on Tuesday morning will turn into a winter mix by noon.

“This will probably continue until the end of the day and will probably end closer to 10 p.m. or so,” he said.

Road conditions in the Dallas-Fort Worth area should remain relatively safe, with little or no rainfall expected. But drivers heading to areas north or west of the metroplex should be careful.

“If you’re going north to the Gainesville area, northwest towards Bowie, or towards Eastland… those are the places where some impacts can happen,” he said. “We’re expecting up to three inches of snow in the northwest, and that will be mostly grass-covered uplands, possibly some bridges and viaducts.”

Wet weather will clear Tuesday evening, gradually warming up and bringing the temperature to 50 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.

Temperatures will rise to 60 degrees by Friday and remain at that level on Saturday despite a 30 percent chance of rain.

But the moderate weather won’t last too long – another cold front moving into the area on Sunday is expected to bring temperatures down into the mid-40s, Hernandez said.
