Some public facilities will be closed during MLK Day.

Some Denton City offices will be closed on Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and will reopen as normal the next day.

public safety

Public security officers will still be on duty. The Denton Police Department can be reached by calling the non-emergency number 940-349-8181 or 911 in an emergency.


Customer Service will be closed on Monday. Callers can report to the public utility emergency number 940-349-7000.


A-train and DCTA Connect buses will operate as normal. Of the DCTA campus shuttles, only the Mean Green Night Rider will operate on the UNT.

Solid waste and recycling

The City of Denton dump will be open from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm. On Monday, there will be no curbside trash, no recycling, no household cleaning, no litter in the yard. The collection will be delayed by one day during the week.

Denton Parks and Recreation

MLK Jr. Rec Center, North Lakes Rec Center, Denia Rec Center, Denton Senior Centre, ALH Senior Center, Denton Civic Center, Goldfield Tennis Center and Denton Natatorium will be closed on Monday. All facilities will resume normal operation the next day. The North Lakes Speedway will remain open.

Services for animals

The Linda McNutt Animal Care and Adoption Center will be closed. Non-Emergency Animal Assistance Lines, 940-349-8181, and select option 8 or call 911 in an emergency.

the airport

The administrative offices of Denton Enterprise Airport will be closed on Monday. The control tower will be open from 06:00 to 22:00. The airfield will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Airport Operator Phone: 940-349-7722.

Denton Libraries

All Denton branch libraries will be closed and will resume normal operations the following day.
