AUSTIN (KXAN) – South Austin’s Panadería adopts the annual Mexican tradition of celebrating the end of the Christmas holidays with the “Dia de los Reyes Magos” or “Feast of the Epiphany” by baking the Rosca de Reyes cake.
Daniel Guevara of Mi Tradicion Panadería said most of the customers are Hispanic. However, he said that the Rosca cake is becoming more popular and more people in the community are embracing the Mexican tradition.
Panaderia stated that she has been baking the Rosca cake for 15 years.
Different colors, candies, and even the shape of the Roshka cake represent different aspects and qualities of faith.
Remember, for everyone to take a bite of the pie, if you happen to get a little baby figurine representing the baby Jesus, you will have to throw a party on Candelaria Day, February 2nd.
