South Carolina Subscriber, Local Standout Player Selected for McDonald’s All-American Game

MyLaysia Fullwiley adds another accolade to her successful career: McDonald’s All-American.

Keenan High’s standout student and signer from South Carolina was one of 24 girls selected to play in the nation’s premier all-star game. The announcement was made Tuesday on ESPN’s NBA Today. The game will take place in Houston on March 28 and will be televised on one of the networks of the ESPN family.

Fullwile becomes the sixth South Carolina player selected to play in the women’s game, which began in 2002. She joins Ashlyn Watkins of Cardinal Newman and Talaysia Cooper of East Clarendon (2022), Aja Wilson of Heathwood Hall (2014), Alaina Coates of Dutch Fork (2013) and Xilina McDaniel of Spring Valley (2012). Before last year’s game, Watkins won the slam dunk challenge.

Fuwiley is ranked 13th in the class of 2023 by ESPN’s HoopGurlz.

Fullwily is one of two Gamecock signers selected to play in the game. Tessa Johnson of St. Michael Albertville in Minnesota will play on the West team. She is ranked #25 on ESPN’s HoopGurlz in the class of 2023 and traveled to South Carolina in October.

Fullwile and Johnson’s selections make up the 22 future Gamecocks that will play in the game.

The 5’7″ Fullwile was called up to Keenan University as a seventh grader during the playoffs and took the program to unprecedented heights. The Raiders have played for the state championship in each of the past five seasons, winning four of them, including three in a row.

Keenan is the No. 1 Class 2A team in the latest SC Basketball Coaches rankings.

Fullwiley is averaging 26.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 5.8 steals and 2.7 blocks per game this year. She is the school’s all-time leading scorer and is approaching 3,000 career points.

Fullwiley enters Tuesday’s game against Colombia with 2,855 points.
