Northside bar and tavern management is scratching their heads after a local thief visits their patio to buy furniture while taking advantage of a five-finger discount.
The owner of the driveway, Jason Meredith, told MySA that CCTV footage shows furniture being stolen in the early hours of Monday, Jan. 9, and Tuesday, Jan. 10. The store is closed on Mondays, so no theft was known until employees came to open it. self-service tavern on Tuesday.
Meredith said the man, hidden by a hat and twilight darkness, was captured walking across the Dooryard patio and pushing one of the tables toward a car parked off-screen around 3:30 a.m. Monday. On Tuesday, the man returned and parked a trailer truck in camera view and also stole a second picnic table around 5:30 am.
On Monday and Tuesday, January 9 and 10, a man was caught on surveillance video stealing garden furniture from The Dooryard.

“That’s for us,” Meredith said. “We didn’t lock them, we just didn’t think we needed to, since they are huge, heavy tables. Luckily, they didn’t take anything else.”
The Dooryard isn’t the only local tavern to face vandalism issues in recent times. On Monday, January 9, Roapmap Brewing shared on Facebook that someone broke through the window of a downtown bar, saying the police “would like to talk to him.”
MySA reached out to Roapmap Brewing for more information.
“Although we have been talking about expanding the patio, please let this guy know that this is actually not the direction we thought it would be,” the brewery said in a social media post.
Meredith said he had filed a police report and hoped people would come and sit down for a beer (or a few) to help them buy new tables.
The Dooryard is a San Antonio self-service tavern serving a rotating menu of craft beer, hard seltzer and homemade margaritas in 30 taps. It is located at 4503 De Zavala Road, Suite 108, San Antonio, TX 78249.
