NAVASOTA, TX (KBTX) — The Texas Department of Criminal Justice announced Jan. 9 that a member of the Luther Division was arrested after smuggling contraband items into the facility.
TDCJ reports that Benson Lou admitted to carrying 8 packs of Lucky Strike cigarettes and additional contraband items in his car, including 2 Motorola cell phones, two boxes of Newport cigarettes, and two more packs of Lucky Strike cigarettes.
The arrest comes less than a month after prison officials discovered a stash of drugs and phones near a cell block in Navasota.
It is unclear if the two incidents are related.
