HOUSTON (KIAH) — Houston police have arrested two teenagers who they say are responsible for killing a 23-year-old man early Friday morning.
Jorge Vazquez, 17, was charged with capital murder in the state’s 179th District Court. Vasquez is being tried as an adult.
Another suspect, a 15-year-old man, was sent to the Harris County Juvenile Prison on a charge of capital murder.
Police said they responded to the shooting near the intersection of Bell and Eastwood streets shortly before 2 a.m. Friday.
When they arrived at the scene, officers heard a gunshot and saw the car partially leaning against the side of Bell Street. Although the engine was still running, the car came to a stop on a hill and a large tree.
Police also saw the 23-year-old driver with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shortly thereafter, officers found Vasquez and a teenager hiding under cars near the scene. They were taken into custody.
Investigators found that one of the suspects entered into a verbal altercation with the victim, which then escalated into shooting. The victim was shot and robbed.
