A Texas woman has been arrested after allegedly kidnapping her friend’s two-day-old daughter and claiming the baby is hers, according to media reports.
Christy Julian, who turned 20 on Wednesday, has been charged with kidnapping, according to the Harris County Jail show.
KPRKKSAT’s affiliate station in Houston, said the incident took place on Saturday when a friend of Juliana’s brought her newborn home from the hospital.
Julian and the woman were in the Third District apartment when Julian asked to hold the baby. HOW reported. The woman told her “no” and as she went to the toilet, Julian reportedly grabbed the baby and left.
A few hours later, the child was found safe and sound at the home of Julian’s boyfriend, according to KPRC.
He told law enforcement that the baby belonged to his girlfriend and that she had given birth a few days ago, according to KPRC. She was reportedly not pregnant when paramedics came home on an unrelated call in November.
She was registered on Saturday and her bail was set at $20,000.
KPRC said that if she posted bail, she would not be allowed to have contact with the victims.
