The affidavit contains more details about the murder on Tuesday morning in north Austin.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Court documents filed Jan. 10 provide more details about a fatal shooting that occurred that same day in north Austin.

According to the affidavit, at approximately 3:29 a.m., a 911 caller said her ex-boyfriend, later identified as 35-year-old Eric Matthew LaMountain, called her and said he had shot someone and suspected they were dead.

Police responded to the location of the alleged victim and found 37-year-old Gavin Wood lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the chest. Wood was pronounced dead at 3:56 am.

Police arrested and detained LaMountain at his home in the 8500 block of Interstate 35 South. According to the affidavit, LaMountain was found with a gun.

The affidavit described a romantic relationship between the victim and the suspect’s then-girlfriend.

The 911 caller and the suspect’s ex-girlfriend confessed to police that they were having an affair with the victim. The records showed that LaMountain found out about the affair and made threats.

The ex-girlfriend told police that while she was with the victim, she received text messages from LaMountain.

“In the messages, LaMountain says, ‘I told you what I would do if you ever cheated on me and I still have his address,'” the notes say.

She told police that she had warned the victim before leaving his home, and she soon received a call from LaMountain saying that he had shot the victim and believed she was dead.

During an interview with police, LaMountain said he dressed in all black and drove to the victim’s home, where he shot him several times before fleeing.

“LaMountain said he fired his firearm until it was empty and the bolt locked from behind,” the records say.

Travis County court records showed that LaMountain was charged with murder and the judge set bail at $1 million.

According to prison records Sunday, LaMountain remained in the Travis County Jail.
